COMPARISON OF RECURRENCE INCIDENCE AFTER PTERYGIUM EXCISION BY USING PEROPRATIVE SUBCONJUNCTIVAL BEVACIZUMAB INJECTION VERSUS CONJUNCTIVAL AUTO GRAFT

Objectives: To compare between Subconjunctival injection of bevacizumab (Avastin) conjunctival autograft in treatment primary pterygium. Patients Methods: This study was performed on 40eyes 40 patients pterygia variable durations. eyes were randomly classified into two equal groups: group to treated Bevacizumab (avastin) 0.2 ml (5 mg) for Primary Pterygium Excision, B auto graft. Best corrected visual acuity, occurrence recurrence, IOP postoperative complications compared. evaluated preoperatively then 1 day, week, month, 3 months after surgery. Eye photography done before surgery during follow up period. conducted at Department Ophthalmology   Al-Azhar University Hospital Kobry El Kobba Military Hospital, August 2018 July 2020. Results: When groups compared together, we found no statistically significant differences among them multiple items, but recurrence rate (bevacizumab group) occurred (10%), while graft this insignificant difference 2 groups. There regarding improvement intraocular pressure change Conclusion: single preoperative subconjunctival had decreased befor excision, did not give more desirable rate. On other hand effective reducing surgical excision.
